Santagata invests in VR Aceti

SANTAGATA 1907, the historic Ligurian oil mill, invests in BALSAMIC VINEGAR by taking over 20% of VR Aceti, a MODENNA COMPANY leader in the production and distribution of classic and organic balsamic vinegar.

The investment is aimed at strengthening the synergy between two companies with complementary high quality products – aimed at the food industry and the consumer market – and with an international profile.

Santagata 1907 S.p.A., founded in 1907, has since then been selecting and marketing the best olive oils in compliance with the most stringent European standards and through a strict quality control system. VR Aceti S.r.l., founded in the Modenese countryside, famous all over the world for the production of balsamic vinegar, produces balsamic vinegar through the use of modern technologies in total respect of tradition.

Santagata 1907 and VR Aceti, both of which have long been involved in the promotion and distribution of quality Made in Italy products at an international level and in the promotion of an authentic and healthy food culture, aim with this union to consolidate their presence in international markets.

The Santagata and Frantoio Portofino brands for extra-virgin olive oil and Re Modena for balsamic vinegar thus unite two of the perhaps most representative excellences of Italian food, olive oil and balsamic vinegar.

Santagata S.p.A., was founded in Liguria in 1907 by Giovanni Battista Santagata, and is now run by Cristina and Federico, the fifth generation of the Santagata family. The business is divided into two areas: the selection and marketing of bulk product created specifically for important national and international brands, and the selection and marketing of packaged product destined for the end consumer, under the Santagata and Frantoio Portofino brands. The company distributes its products in over 40 countries around the world and owns 27% of the capital of Raineri S.p.A., a historic oil company in Liguria.

VR Aceti S.r.l. produces and sells Re Modena brand balsamic vinegar in two lines: classic and organic. The product is made from Lambrusco and Trebbiano grapes grown in the company’s own vineyards. During the production process, modern technologies are used with total respect for tradition to obtain a naturally dense product that follows the ancient family recipe. No colouring agents or thickeners are used in VR vinegars. The entire production process, from the processing of raw materials to bottling, is guaranteed by control and certification bodies.
